OK, it wasn't to do the Red Sox/Tigers broadcast, but it was nice to see Sox analyst Jerry Remy visit the NESN booth today. Remy's been off for most of the season as he battles back from cancer. The booth hasn't been the same since he left, although Dennis Eckersley is growing on me and of course, Dave Roberts is just an embarassment. Great stolen base, let's leave it at that! In what is great news for Red Sox Nation, broadcaster Jerry Remy hopes to be back in the NESN broadcast booth soon. Boston Red Sox color commentator has just taken an indefinite leave of absence in order to recover from the effects of lung cancer surgery.
56-year-old Remy joined NESN in 1988. He has worked alongside Don Orsillo since 2001. He is a former smoker who underwent surgery for lung cancer late last year and he expected to return to the booth this season but an infection and a subsequent case of pneumonia forced him to miss most of spring training.
