Getty Images DON'T MISS Zimbio Movie Review: Gentlemen Broncos While in film school at Brigham Young University, Jared and Jerusha Hess wrote a screenplay and recruited their friends -- including a then-unknown actor named Jon Heder -- to help turn it into what would become one of the most successful movies of 2004, Napoleon Dynamite . Since then they've made two more films: 2006's Nacho Libre (starring Jack Black ), and Gentlemen Broncos , which will be released October 30. IO9.com -- Napoleon Dynamite, paranormal investigator? The husband-wife team behind the strange slice-of-life comedy reveal that the original idea for Napoleon Dynamite involved a very different plot, with crop circles, an alien conspiracy, and Napoleon fleeing from government agents. After a screening for their upcoming film Gentlemen Broncos, Jared and Jerusha Hess, co-writers of both Gentlemen Broncos and Napoleon Dynamite (Jared also directed both films) answered audience questions and gave a little background about the movie. During the session, Jerusha mentioned that, if Jared had his way, Napoleon Dynamite would have been about crop circles and UFOs. Later, during an interview with the pair, ... Read Full Story

Gentlemen Broncos, the second movie from Napoleon Dynamite director, Jared Hess, comes out today. This is exciting, because along with Hall's brother Jerusha, the Utah-based duo have been working on this script ever since the crazy success of the low-budget, unconventional Napoleon Dynamite. Their newest might just be the perfect way to physically prepare for the debauchery of tomorrow evening. Judging from the trailer, Gentlemen Broncos looks as wonderfully scrappy and awkward as its predecessor, with shameless mullets, awesomely bad clothes (see mock turtleneck and '80s leather vest combo, below), and withering glares from the eyes of social pariah sons in the direction of ... Once upon a time there was a weird little thrift-shop comedy called "Napoleon Dynamite." It came out of nowhere (well, almost nowhere: Utah) with a no-name cast, adhered to no known comedic formula, and became a smash. While it captured lightning in a bottle, it had unfortunate aftereffects. It gave its giraffe-like star, Jon Heder, a subsequent acting career that defines the term "sophomore slump." And it empowered writer/director Jared Hess...
