According to the Chicago Sun-Times , sources are now confirming that Democrat Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. pledged to raise $5 million for the Governor Rod Blagojevich in return for an appointment to the US Senate seat. But an additional $1 million was pledged as a bonus to come from India donors. An independent panel that reviews possible ethical lapses by members of the House of Representatives has launched a preliminary review of U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s efforts to be appointed to the U.S. Senate by ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, according to a published report.
