But because the 28-year-old bodybuilder is one-quarter Japanese, his doctor warned him the outlook was grim. Bone marrow donors are pretty easy to find for 90% of the population, but the same cannot be said for those of mixed ancestry. According to the National Marrow Donor Program , the number of multiracial Americans is rising, but very few of the donors on the national bone-marrow registry are of mixed race. More diverse donors for patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, and other diseases are being sought. It wasn’t too long ago when I discussed the issue of health care acknowledging the biracial community. And ever since, I’ve noticed there are many discussions on some of the new changes.
