A new DirecTV commercial featuring funnyman David Spade and late comedian Chris Farley has kicked up a dust cloud of criticism, and forced Spade to go on the defensive. The ad shows Spade sitting on a couch while an image of the Farley performing his trademark "Fat Guy in a Little Coat" routine, appears nearby....

Columbia Pictures has released the teaser trailer for the new Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups. The film stars Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Maria Bello, Gary Busey and David Spade, and is directed by Dennid Dugan, the filmmaker behind of some of Sandler's earlier films like Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy, but who recently has been responsible for some comic clunkers like I Now Pronouce You Chuck...  

Chris Farley stars in a DirecTV ad from one of his classic films "Tommy Boy" with pal David Spade.  Is it too soon seems to be the constant topic of discussion and many say Spade is cashing in on his dead buddy...  

David Spade says he is shocked by criticism he's received about a DirecTV commercial that features a scene from Tommy Boy of him and the late Chris Farley — whom he says would "be stoked" to be involved in the ad. "Oh, my God if [Farley] was here ...

Back in the '90s, Chris Farley and David Spade ruled the comedy landscape. But when Farley tragically overdosed, it was clear that Spade was just riding the big guy's coattails. In light of a recently debuted DirecTV commercial (video after the break), it appears that Spade doesn't intend to stop, either. I'm not a big fan of the commercial, but really, you think you have a moral high ground here? I'm sure Spade would have made more money on collectors edition of Tommy Boy Blu Ray. I'm not his biggest fan, but I'd have to believe him that this was a tribute that didn't go over so well. #davidspade teke367
