Jim Lehrer

Jim Lehrer

Jim Lehrer (born May 19, 1934 in Wichita, KS) is a journalist and news anchor for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. He has moderated several U.S. Presidential debates.

The new-look NewsHour

The New York Times reports that the "Newshour," PBS' signature nightly newscast, is undergoing some important changes.

A program that has no tolerance for over-saturated, breathless coverage of non-stories (are you listening cable news?) is attempting to become more relevant to its audience and its times.

While the aforementioned story suggests that these changes do not mean that Jim Lehrer is moving into retirement, the changes will allow PBS executives to gain a better appreciation for who might replace him.

And for the record, I hope Judy Woodruff becomes the principal co-anchor.
