Jodi Wiedemann Homeschooler?

An article by Lisa Keys in the New York Post reported that Jordin Sparks is being homeschooled.

April 15, 2007 -- She´s the only female "American Idol" contestant who goes home after singing and does her homework. Seventeen-year-old Jordin Sparks gave up school to embark on the most ambitious journey of her life. The Staten Island native who was raised in Glendale, Ariz., is capitalizing on the talents she developed while singing with the Valley Youth Center in Phoenix.

Bobb Cooper, Sparks´ former director there, sums it up best: "Talent is key," he says. "But personality gets you there."

According to Sparks´ bio on the "American Idol" web site, she began singing at the tender age of one-and-a-half. She also began acting at a young age, too: In 2002, she was cast in the ensemble of the Valley Youth Theater´s production of "The Wiz."

"She was pretty young then," says Cooper. "She was good; she got even better." Later that year she appeared in the theater´s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein´s "Cinderella."

Though Sparks was born in 1989 in Staten Island, daughter of former Giants quarterback Phillippi Sparks and Jodi Wiedmann, she moved to the Phoenix suburb of Glendale after her father´s retirement from the NFL. Though she briefly attended Glendale´s Sandra Day O´Connor High School, Sparks left to be homeschooled in 2005 in order to focus on her career. (While on "Idol," she works with a tutor three hours a day.)...
