Season Wrap Up Although the Dodgers had the worst record in the 2008 playoffs it was mainly a byproduct of their poor first half. The acquisition of Manny Ramirez from Boston in a three way deal at the deadline rejuvenated this young team, giving them the experience and the potent bat they were missing up to that point. It has been much speculated that the Mets are interested in LHP Joe Beimel. In the Detroit Free Press  , it appears that the Tigers have interest in signing the left hander to be a 7th or 8th inning guy in their pen. Beimel, 31, went 5-1 with a 2.02 ERA in 71 appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers this year. Left-handers batted .278 against him but had only three extra-base hits, all doubles.
