Season Wrap Up
Although the Dodgers had the worst record in the 2008 playoffs it was mainly a byproduct of their poor first half. The acquisition of Manny Ramirez from Boston in a three way deal at the deadline rejuvenated this young team, giving them the experience and the potent bat they were missing up to that point. Not a bad first year managing for Joe Torre , his experience definitely made the difference in the 2008 Dodgers.

It has been much speculated that the Mets are interested in LHP Joe Beimel.
In the Detroit Free Press , it appears that the Tigers have interest in signing the left hander to be a 7th or 8th inning guy in their pen.
Beimel, 31, went 5-1 with a 2.02 ERA in 71 appearances with the Los Angeles Dodgers this year. Left-handers batted .278 against him but had only three extra-base hits, all doubles. Beimel has allowed only one Home run over the past two seasons.
