Independent US senator Joe Lieberman on Wednesday called this month's deadly shooting spree at the Fort Hood army base "the most destructive terrorist attack on America since September 11, 2001." Speaking at a meeting of the US Senate Homeland Security Committee, Lieberman, who chairs the panel, vowed to conduct a thorough probe of the shooting -- one of several planned by the US military and government officials. "We appreciate that the army and the Justice Department are conducting a criminal investigation of the shooting," said Lieberman, also noting a separate probe ordered by President Barack Obama. Joe Lieberman’s words: “I can’t see a way in which I could vote for cloture on any bill that contained a creation of a government-operated-run insurance company” Joe Lieberman’s actions: He voted for cloture. What else needs to be said? Joe Lieberman was counted on as a man of principle, a man who put principle above party, an independent man but in the end he was nothing more than a hack for the Democrat party and a shill for government run healthcare. We are supposed to believe that this vote for cloture was nothing but a formality, a procedural vote but it was much ... Read Full Story

Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman says while he's "strongly inclined" to vote to move Sen. Harry Reid's health care plan to the Senate floor for debate, he would ultimately oppose the measure because it includes a public option. An independent who caucuses with Democrats, Lieberman is among a group of about a dozen moderate senators whose support Reid will need as Senate critical health care votes near. Lieberman said he's open to the possibility of supporting a plan ... Read Full Story

Senator Joe Lieberman says that he will filibuster any health reform bill that contains a public plan option: If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote because I believe debt can break America and send us into a recession that’s worse than the one we’re fighting our way out of today. I don’t want to do that to our children and grandchildren. A "matter of conscience"? When did Joe Lieberman grow a conscience? This is the same man who voted to spend hundreds of billions of dollars ... Read Full Story
The word "no" is my favorite word coming from Joe Lieberman these days:Sen. Joseph Lieberman, speaking in that trademark sonorous baritone, utters a simple statement that translates into real trouble for Democratic leaders: "I'm going to be stubborn on this." Stubborn, he means, in opposing any health-care overhaul that includes a "public option," or government-run health-insurance plan, as the current bill does. His opposition is strong...

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman is a key player on health care reform and could potentially be the 60th senator. That number is particularly important because it takes 60 votes to cut off a filibuster that could derail health care reform. On NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday morning, Lieberman discussed the issue with the host, David Gregory, and other senators. Gregory: "Senator Lieberman, let me pick up with where the real difficult there is-- are in...
