Joe, people are talking about htis is the “golden age” of center fielders, but isn’t it really the golden age of first basemen? Pujols, Fielder, Howard, Gonzalez, Texeira, Morneau, Youkilis, and the list goes on. Obviously 1B is a hitters position but I don’t remember a time where first basemen dominated this much, especially compared to the relative lack of hitting in the OF positions. What do you think?

Become more athletic. Sometimes, when I look at the A’s players, I think they’re playing softball. They have some big guys who try to hit the ball out of the ballpark. They strike out a lot. They just are not in position to make things happen on the basepaths...
