John Gauss is Assistant Secretary of IT in the Department of Veterans Affairs. According to whitehouse.gov: John Gauss served thirty-two years with the U.S. Navy, retiring in May 2001 with the rank of Rear Admiral. In his final assignment, he served as Commander of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. In 1994, John was assigned as deputy director of engineering at the Defense Information Systems Agency and in 1997 served as director of the Allied & Fleet Requirements Division in the Navy Information Warfare Command & Control Directorate. John is a graduate of Cornell University.
