One of our favorite tough cop movies is John Sturges' 1974 thriller, McQ with John Wayne in the title role as a maverick Seattle P.D. detective who is being framed for drug smuggling. The film is several notches above most of the Dirty Harry clones of the era, thanks to an excellent script and a solid supporting cast for Wayne to spar with. John Wayne Cooper Sr. "Pop", born 11/2/1934 in Pearl City,Hawaii passed away after a 4 year battle with cancer on 12/3/2011 in Visalia, CA. He was 77 years old.
