Frank Kimmel wins crash filled ARCA race at Talladega, full race results

Frank Kimmel won the ARCA Series race from Talladega Superspeedway thanks in part to rain. The International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 was highlighted by two crashes just before halfway and was threaten by weather from the start. It was Kimmel’s second win at Talladega. Milka Duno started on the pole for the race after teammate John Wes Townley’s car failed a post qualifying inspection. John Wes Townley qualified tenth for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Talladega but his time was disallowed after qualifying. Townley’s car failed post qualifying inspection for being too low. Since Townley was racing for Venturini Motorsports, a team running a limited schedule, he had no owner points to fall back on. Jon Wes Townly won the ARCA Series Lucas Oil 200 race at Daytona thanks to a atypical mistake by the team of Bobby Gerhart. Gerhart set out to win his ninth Daytona ARCA race Saturday night. It appeared that he was set to do that until with less then ten laps to go he ran out of fuel. Jon Wes Townley bumped the back of Gerhart’s No. 5 as Gerhart slowed. John Wes Townley will compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next season while driving the Toyota Tundra’s of Red Horse Racing. Townley, 22, drove in the series last season for RAB Racing.
