Field trips cut short, students safe, at the Johnson Space Center

Vinton middle school students on a field trip were at Johnson Space Center during the hostage situation and shooting today. Thier principal, Stephen Hardy, reported that 61 eighth graders were on a field trip to Houston, the Johnson space center and the Holocaust Museum.  Principal Hardy says they were about a mile away from where the gunman was barricaded and were never in any danger.  All of the students are safe. Johnson Space Center Shooting, only days after Virginia Tech

An un-named gunman shot and killed one hostage and himself today at NASA's Johnson Space Center. "The suspect shot himself one time to the head. He appears to be deceased at this time," Houston police captain Dwayne Ready said at a press conference. A second hostage was spared. This traedy comes only 4 days after Seung-hui Cho killed 32 people and himself at Virginia Tech. Very few details of the Johnson Space Center shooting have been released yet.Read Full Story
