LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian Jonathan Winters, star of dozens of TV shows and movies like "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad , Mad World," has died at the age of 87, a family friend told Reuters on Friday. Joe Petro, a long-time friend of the actor who runs his official website, said Winters died of natural causes at his home in Montecito, California on Thursday. Best known as a guest on The Tonight Show when Johnny Carson hosted it, Jonathan Winters died yesterday at his home in Montecito, California. He was 87.  During his career, he earned 10 Grammy nominations and one win for comedy albums.He was noted as the “father of modern improvisational comedy,” and earned an Emmy for his supporting role in Davis Rules in 1991.
