I'm sure nobody cares, but I found this story funny . Mainly because it's amazing how pathetic Jose Canseco has become. Canseco, who has taken to the celebrity boxing matches in his post-baseball career, called out the Yankee slugger while in Springfield, Mass., to promote his match Friday night against Pittsfield, Mass., fighter Todd Poulton. Canseco has long professed a dislike for Rodriguez, who Canseco wrote about in his 2008 book "Vindicated," the followup to his 2005 steroid tell-all "Juiced." In "Vindicated," Canseco said he introduced Rodriguez to a steroid dealer and that Rodriguez repaid the favor by coming on to Canseco's wife, Jessica, ... Read Full Story

Browse > MMA Videos / mma / Troubled rapper DMX the latest celeb trying to cash in on MMA The rapper DMX is scheduled for a fight against Eric Martinez on the same card where Butterbean will take on Tank Abbott. Go ahead, read that sentence again, and let it soak in.  Thunder Promotions , who is putting on this card in Birmingham, Ala. on Dec. 12, must not have been satisfied that the Butterbean/Tank Abbott bout was enough of a freak show fight. Eric "Butterbean" Esch, at 5'11", 350 lbs., will likely outweigh the veteran Abbott by nearly 100 lbs. But nothing screams ... Read Full Story

As it turns out, we can't just all get along. Rodney King, made famous for taking a beating by the Los Angeles Police Department, will reportedly try to give a beating to Jose Canseco , the fallen-from-grace baseball player, in Philadelphia on September 12. Seriously. Canseco has two boxing matches under his belt, getting knocked out by Vai Sikahema and a draw with child star and radio personality Danny Bonaduce. He also has one loss in MMA, in which he lost to 7'2" Hong Man Choi in less than two minutes. We last saw King on VH1's "Sober House, " after his stint on ... Read Full Story

Jose Canseco was quoted as saying that Major League Baseball will “have a big, big problem on their hands when they find out they have a Hall of Famer who’s used.” This was when hearing about Ortiz and Ramirez’s PED revelations; he was not surprised in the slightest. Irrespective of his motivations, he has been right about absolutely everything. Personally, I believe him. Rickey Henderson? I don’t know. He did develop power in the mid-1980’s . It’s possible. Also, I would be very surprised—but it is possible—if it were Cal Ripken Jr. His power numbers remained consistent . But the use of HGH in ... Read Full Story
The former Red Sox slugger will fight in a celebrity boxing match Friday night. In case you forgot, onetime Red Sox slugger and all-around role model Jose Canseco is in Springfield, Mass., this week, with plans to fight in a celebrity boxing match (the undercard: Rodney King! Jose Canseco, Rodney King and Michael Lohan step into a boxing ring … It sounds like the setup for a joke, right? But in reality, it’s just another day at the office in the world of the Celebrity Boxing Federation. This 10-bout event I attended Nov. 6—billed as “Celebrity Boxing 13: David vs. Goliath”—featured Canseco and King as the headliners. Lohan was on hand to promote his upcoming fight with a local city councilman. The unlikely...

Jose Canseco, contemplating a looming future of slumpbusters and hypodermic needles. Jose Canseco was a Red Sox for a minute, but we're guessing that there are at least a few people in New England who would like to see the wife beating steroids advocate take a blow or two to the noggin. It turns out that we aren't the only people who think so. According to Dan Lamothe, Canseco will be making a rare trip to Western Mass. to take on Todd...
