NAIROBI ( Reuters ) - A U.N. Court trying the masterminds of Rwanda 's 1994 genocide said on Tuesday it had for the first time referred one of its cases to be tried in Rwanda itself. Rwanda has in the past unsuccessfully sought to have the court hand it some of the cases. A fugitive suspect in Rwanda's 1994 genocide with a five-million dollar reward on his head has been arrested in Uganda, police said on Friday. Suspect Jean-Bosco Uwinkindi, accused of helping to orchestrate the mass killings, was arrested after entering Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo. "The people in Arusha were tracking him. Rwanda court rejects inaction charge in lawyer case

The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda on Wednesday rejected charges it has failed to take action after the arrest in Rwanda of a US lawyer accused of denying the 1994 Tutsi genocide. Former Rwanda militia chief dies in Benin

A former militia chief, sentenced by the UN tribunal for Rwanda to life in prison for his role in the 1994 genocide, has died in Benin where he was serving his sentence a statement said Wednesday. Georges Rutaganda , 52, was the leader of the Interahamwe militia whose members did much of the killing during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
