KIGALI (Reuters) - Survivor groups from Rwanda's 1994 genocide say they may stop sending witnesses to the U.N. tribunal in Tanzania, in protest at the court's recent acquittals of two genocide suspects. The groups, who provide many of the witnesses for the trials, say they will not cooperate unless the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) reverses its decision to release Hormisdas Nsengimana and Protais Zigiranyirazo. DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - A priest accused of genocide and crimes against humanity during the 1994 Rwandan genocide has been acquitted, the second release in as many days, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda said on Tuesday. The U.N. court ordered the immediate release of Father Hormisdas Nsengimana, who was a priest at a Catholic secondary school during the three months of slaughter of some 800,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutus in 1994. The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) is stepping up pressure on Paris to release the names of the people sheltered in the French embassy in Kigali in the first days of the 1994 genocide, court papers showed Thursday. In a note dated November 13, the court said it had exhausted the means at its disposal to obtain this list from France and that it was bringing the matter to the attention of the ICTR president Dennis Byron, authorised to bring up such issues with the UN Security Council. So I’m happy to report that one of the lead suspects in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda , Felicien Kabuga, has had his assets frozen. He’s in the luxury apartment business in Nairobi and is accused of financing the genocide in Rwanda by contributing money to the infamous Hutu-run hate radio station, Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Colline s, which incited and called for fellow Hutus to take up arms and kill their Tutsi neighbors.
