CLEMSON, S.C., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Tanner Smith's 14 points and 10 rebounds Sunday powered 19th-ranked Clemson to a 72-61 win over arch-rival South Carolina. Clemson led just 32-29 at the half, and its pressure defenses kept USC at bay in the second 20-minute stanza, with Smith's layup giving Clemson a 52-42 advantage with 11:27 remaining. Georgetown used its starters sparingly after building an early 32-16 lead, and American trailed 63-32 with just under 8 minutes remaining. LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Freshmen Eric Bledsoe and John Wall scored their team's last seven points Saturday, boosting fourth-ranked Kentucky to a 68-66 win over No. 11 North Carolina. Saturday's victory in the battle of college basketball's winningest programs lifted the Wildcats to an 8-0 start in the 2009-10 season.
