Encarnacion Struck In Face By Foul Tip
While standing in the St. Louis Cardinals on-deck circle Friday night, Juan Encarnacion was nailed square in his left eye by an Aaron Miles foul ball.
The velocity of the ball was made clear when it bounced a few feet in the opposite direction after making contact with Encarnacion's face. He remained conscious after the hit and stayed on the field for several minutes before walking off with help from trainers and a towel covering the swollen left side of his face.
The veteran right-fielder was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent a CT scan. Few details were made available postgame.
