Somebody Tell Us How to Feel About Jude Law Being Cast as Young Dumbledore in 'Fantastic Beasts'

So many thoughts, but no thoughts at all.

From the Young Pope to the Wizarding World...

Jude Law is set to portray young Dumbledore in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (Welp, so much for our suggestions.) The actor, who recently appeared in Paolo Sorrentino's offbeat mini series The Young Pope, will take over the role previously played by Richard Harris and Michael Gambon.

According to reports, the sequel will show young Dumbledore long before he became the Headmaster of Hogwarts. He'll be the school's Transfiguration professor and contemporary of Gellert Grindelwald.

Here's what director David Yates had to say about the casting:

“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as JK Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

Other actors considered for the role included Christian Bale and Benedict Cumberbatch. So with all that, how are we supposed to feel? Jude Law certainly has played eccentric enough roles in the past to justify him being tapped for Dumbledore. (See: The Young Pope.) So maybe this will all work out after all?

Thoughts?
