Justine Bateman Blasts Twitter Users, Discovers New Feature

Justine Bateman was pissed off at Twitter yesterday (Wednesday).  Why? She started seeing posts in her incoming Twitter stream from people, and businesses, that she hadn’t subscribed to.

She had no idea where these tweets were coming from, according to Gawker. She was seeing ads from Vanity Fair, then blogger John Gruber, just to name a few.

Bateman deduced that Twitter was selling ad placement to these people and business. She quickly called them “shitheads”, “human waste”, “jackass”, etc.

Lo and behold, Twitter had accidentally rolled out an incomplete version of its new “Project Re-Tweet,” a previously-announced feature that altered the formatting of posts republished by your friends on Twitter.

Instead of displaying friends’ names and photos, the re-posted material used the name and photo of the original author. In the case of this accidental test drive, however, the feature had no attribution.

Bateman immediately felt badly about the whole situation. Twitter has since reached out to the celebrity and everyone has made nice once again.

Little known fact: Justine Bateman has testified to the U.S. Senate on the issue of Net Neutrality and, in addition, has staked her future on her online production company.
