Karl Lagerfeld Doesn't Like the Internet

NY Mag reports Karl isn't happy about high-end apparel going online, as he wrote, "I like the physical contact with the goods."

"An H&M dress and a Chanel dress look the same in a small photo, but not in real life."
Karl thinks it's dangerous for luxury goods to retail online, as he considers it difficult to tell the difference in a product's quality from the pictures used to sell the product. Moreover, shopping just isn't as fun: "When you buy in a shop, you buy what you discover, what you might have had no intention of buying."

While Karl's fears seem legitimate, the fact remains that most of the people who buy Chanel, Fendi, or Karl Lagerfeld products are motivated by the quality they consider inherent to the brand; most Chanel-lovers won't choose a Forever 21 knock-off, if they're willing to buy Chanel in the first place. Moreover, those of us who love shopping will continue to hit the stores. We're just also going to shop the online sales, too.
