Irrefutable fashion icons
Kate Moss and
Inés de la Fressange have both conquered the modeling industry - de la Fressange in the 1980s, when she played muse to
Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, and Moss from the mid-1990s onward. Perhaps that's why both of them felt the need to move on: after a certain degree of success, even the most glamorous-seeming jobs start to wear thin.
In a recent interview with the
Times UK, Moss explained that she finds life more interesting when she's creating something other than images. She said of becoming a businesswoman:
It’s much more inspiring to get up in the mornings and not have to go and sit in a chair and have your make-up done, but to get up and go, “I want to make this dress, I want to make this perfume.” I’ve got ideas. I like modelling, I still love creating images, but I think after doing it for as long as I have, it can get a little samey. So it gave me another bit of zest for life. In an interview with the UK's
Independent, meanwhile, Roger Vivier global ambassador Ines de la Fressange offered an even blunter perspective her life as a model. When asked about the highlight of her catwalk career, de la Fressange answered, "when I stopped. It's boring to be a model."
No wonder so many models are looking to start careers in design.
