Catholic education in Erie PA in 2009 will soon look more like 1959. There must be enrollment problems at Erie Villa Maria Academy and Erie Cathedral Prep . Villa is going back to being an all girls school with Prep remaining the all boys school. The Sisters of St Joseph and the Diocese of Erie have agreed to form a new Diocesan corporation for Catholic secondary education in Erie, PA. Golf scores and not the temperature are supposed to be in negative numbers. Temps in Erie were below zero again today after hitting -7 yesterday. The forecast calls for a warm up with even rain expected by Friday. Lord Corporation , which has about 1,100 employees in northwest Pennsylvania, announced a few layoffs and scalesbacks.
