British tabloid staple
Katie Price and her Australian husband
Peter Andre announced their separation earlier this week, but one British tabloid isn’t buying the split.
The
Daily Mail speculates that Katie and Peter’s rupture may be about as real as her hair extensions. The reason? Publicity.
Katie is a master of drumming up buzz: she became famous for getting photographed sloshed outside of London clubs, after all, and has managed to parlay her dubious success into a £30 million fortune based mostly on licensing deals. So maybe a split would be good for business.
The
Daily Mail builds their case on a couple of key facts:
- Katie had supposedly begun fretting that she was being eclipsed by Jade Goody, the former reality TV star who died of cancer earlier this year
- She reportedly told a friend who helped her train for the London Marathon that she was going to reinvent herself in some spectacular way
- Her fourth autobiography is coming out soon.
- He’s about to release a breakup album.
- The pictures that supposedly caused the rift featured Katie with a man who has publicly stated he’s gay and in a relationship with a man.
- Katie has a deal to talk with OK! Magazine to discuss the end of the relationship.
Of course, fans of Katie and Peter’s reality show might not be surprised by the split, after having witnessed several blow-out fights between the couple. In her third autobiography, she wrote that Peter had once threatened to leave her.
But today, the
Daily Mail reported that Price had cut ties with Can Associates Limited, which represented Price and Andre since the start of their marriage.
