Peter Andre wins libel damages over "Now" report

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Pop singer Peter Andre accepted "substantial" damages on Tuesday in London's High Court after an article in "Now" magazine alleged that he had lied by portraying himself as a loving father and husband.

Andre, 36, who is best known for his relationship with glamour model Katie Price and their recent acrimonious divorce, was in court for a brief hearing.

The legal action related to an article published in July in Now, a weekly celebrity and gossip magazine, which said Andre may have been at fault for two accidents suffered by Price's disabled son Harvey, the Press Association reported.

Andre and Price have two children, Junior and Princess.

"Separately, Mr. Andre was also said to have demanded sick sexual threesomes from his wife, which horrified her and which she did not enjoy, feeling used and like a sex doll," Andre's lawyer Gordon Williams told the court

"As a result, Mr. Andre was said to be lying in portraying himself as a loving father and husband."

After the hearing, Andre said he was pleased that Now had accepted that the story was untrue.

"I take my responsibilities very seriously. I would never do anything to hurt my children, whom I love very much," he said.
