This game will certainly not go down as a classic, instant or otherwise. In what was definitely his weakest game by far Tom Brady led the New England Patriots past the San Diego Chargers Sunday 21-12, to remain unbeaten at 18-0, and more importantly to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Brady who threw 2 touchdowns, but 3 interceptions, was fortunate to face a badly banged up Phillip Rivers who was a shadow of himself throwing 2 picks, and no touchdowns. The win propels New England to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last seven years. They will take on the New ... Read Full Story

The Houston Texans have signed unrestricted free-agent wide receiver Keenan McCardell (San Diego Chargers). McCardell played last season with the Chargers, recording 36 receptions for 437 receiving yards, but zero touchdowns. He missed two games last season because of a calf injury. San Diego released McCardell in early March. Houston will use McCardell as a starter opposite Pro-Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson. Wide receivers Kevin Walter and Bethel Johnson were two options for the starting job before the team inked McCardell. Does he have the wheels to continue playing? His days as a productive receiver have long been over, and the No. 2 in ... Read Full Story

Chargers GM A.J. Smith has long been viewed as a shrewd talent evaluator when it comes to the NFL Draft, but how much of that stems from a single strong haul? After flipping an unhappy Eli Manning for Philip Rivers and several draft picks, Smith earned a reputation for being one of the best GMs in the game. But since then, he has done little to live up to that image. In the past few seasons, Smith's drafts have been dotted with reaches and...

Hours after he was signed by the San Diego Chargers for the rest of the football season, former Eagles tackle Jon Runyan today announced that this will be his last season in the NFL and that he will run for Congress next year. "Yesterday, I received an offer to pursue my professional dream of winning a Super Bowl, and have decided to sign with the San Diego Chargers for the remainder of this season through the playoffs.  Win or lose, these...

Honestly, I find it hard to gauge the San Diego Chargers. They have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL, have won the AFC West three seasons in a row, and draft incredibly well. So why haven’t they won the big one yet?   In my opinion, it has nothing to do with the players, and it’s mainly the coaching staff. Norv Turner has to go, as he doesn’t utilize the Chargers strengths.   Really, he’s not much of a head coach, but more of an...
