Keira Knightley Moves From the Big Screen to the Stage For Role In 'The Misanthrope'

Apparently making the move from the silver screen to a stage is quite the thing to do right now: it's just been released that Keira Knightley will star in a London production of The Misanthrope, Sienna Miller's in the midst of her run in After Miss Julie in NYC, and, for goodness' sake, even Pam Anderson just divulged that she'll play the Genie for 2 weeks (for $600 a pop) in Aladdin in London.

Keira's role doesn't seem like it'll be too much of a transition, though. The Pirates of the Caribbean star will play an American actress who is in love with the lead male Alceste (to be played by Damian Lewis) in the modern adaptation of the Moliere novel. However, her character reportedly has a little more wild and crazy party girl in her than Keira does in real life.

The play's director Thea Sharrock told the UK edition of Marie Claire: "I love the fact that she's attracted to the role and that she gets the humor of it. She gets that she's a massive star about to play a massive star, and that's ironic, that's hilarious and she's big enough to rise above that."
