It isn’t everyday that a story lands on your doorstep. However, after boarding the Paddington-Oxford Great Western rail service at 3.17pm on Monday I found myself in the company of former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone. When I say “in the company” I should clarify this to stating that ‘Red Ken’ was merely in the same carriage. What amused me at first was that he sat down and started reading the diary column of the London Evening Standard - the paper with whom he is supposed to have had a decade-long feud. KEN LIVINGSTONE ADDS VOICE TO CAMPAIGN AGAINST LABOUR CUTS. FORMER MAYOR SPEAKS UP WHILE SCOTTISH LABOUR STAY SILENT. Labour’s former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has today urged Alasdair Darling and Gordon Brown not to cut the budgets of devolved administrations. Asked on BBC's Politics Show how he would approach the upcoming budget Mr Livingstone said; “The last thing you need to do is cut the devolved government’s budget - whether it’s London or Scotland” ... Glorious! The BBC has been accused of political bias for allowing Boris Johnson to appear on EastEnders despite rejecting an idea from his predecessor Ken Livingstone... Mr Livingstone approached the BBC during his last term as Mayor, hoping to highlight a recycling campaign on the show. He said: "They said it wouldn't be appropriate, that it was political. They've obviously changed their tune, but then they have always been quite keen on Boris." Labour Assembly member Murad Qureshi accused the BBC of giving Mr Johnson free publicity. The BBC claimed that the office of Mayor was "politically neutral". Read Full Story

And Failed July 19, 2009 In March last year I posted an article on this website warning our London readers that it was not a good idea to elect Boris Johnson as their Mayor in the May 2008 election. How right I was then and how wrong our readers turned out to be. The voted Boris in. Now they have only themselves to blame. Johnson proved to be a total disaster. Even worse than his predecessor, Labour’s Ken Livingstone.Today I post ... Read Full Story

Browse > Home / City Life / Things I’d Like To Ask Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone October 1, 2008 The London Underground is an embarrassment. One huge embarrassment. The trains are old and the tracks are even older, the signal system is outdated and breaks down all the time, the stations look shabby and the heat and stuffiness are unbearable. Not to mention that some of the lines are in state of constant repair and the trains just ground to a halt in the tunnels sometimes and stand there endlessly with passengers feeling trapped in some dark abyss. Oh yes, and the whole ... Read Full Story
