He is best known for his participation in Ultimate Fighting Championship, and for his professional wrestling career with the World Wrestling Federation and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Shamrock is currently a subject matter expert in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. He has written two books, Beyond the Lion's Den and Inside the Lion's Den

I have never seen a fight card so filled with unknowns and fighter shuffling. You just never knew who was going to walk out into the cage. In the end we did get to see MMA legends Ken Shamrock (27-13-2) and David “Tank” Abbott (10-14) break long losing streaks in unsatisfying sub-minute mismatches. With Seth Petruzelli being forced out of a scheduled bout with Doug Marshall, a heavyweight matchup between Ken Shamrock and Bobby Lashley has been promoted to MMA main-event status for the MMA/boxing hybrid event "March Badness." The organization today issued a press release announcing the change. MMA legend Ken Shamrock was prepared for one final shot at glory. After winning just one bout since 2002, Shamrock's heavily publicized return against street-fighting legend Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson was to be the main event of this past weekend's "EliteXC: Heat." Instead, a laceration suffered on the day of the event forced Shamrock off of the card.
