Kenny Chesney is a country music superstar, although his first release, titled "In My Wildest Dreams", was released to lackluster sales in 1994 on independent label Capricorn Records. However, singles from the album proved that there was a fan base for Kenny's music, and his subsequent albums have proven this.

Eleven of Kenny's first thirteen albums have been certified gold or higher. Although his debut on Capricorn was not the blockbuster that his later albums became, the singles from the album, "The Tin Man" and "Whatever It Takes" did touch the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, extreme success for an independent release. Unfortunately, Capricorn Records did not continue to publish country music after that year.

Today, Kenny Chesney has released more than thirty top ten country hits, and that includes seventeen that made it all the way to the number one spot. With four consecutive AMC Entertainer of the Year Awards under his belt and six CMA awards, there's no doubt he's a country music powerhouse. In 2007, his summer tour was the top grossing country music tour of the year.

Born in Knoxville, Tennesse in 1968, Kenny Chesney's youth in the heart of country music was fueled by an early Christmas gift of a guitar, which he taught himself to play. After joining a bluegrass club while attending East Tennessee State University, he recorded a record on his own in 1989 which he used to sell at gigs to help pay for his dream. Kenny graduated from East Tennessee State with a degree in marketing and with a dream in his back pocket of a career singing country music.

Making his way to Nashville, which is just north of his hometown and east of his collegiate home, Kenny Chesney worked the music scene in the famed Music City, looking to capture a piece of his dream of a career in music.

Kenny Chesney worked to land a record deal in Nashville and eventually signed with BMI and Opryland Music Group in 1992.Despite his youth, he'd already worked in front of audiences and been immersed in music enough that record producers saw his potential.

Kenny made his way to Nashville, TN, which is known worldwide as the home of country music and just north of Kenny's home town of Knoxville. Kenny's efforts to land a record deal paid off in 1992, when he signed with BMI and Opryland Music Group.

Kenny graduated from ETSU with a degree in marketing and had a few years of playing in front of audiences, so he was already developing into the star country music fans have come to know.

This year's Kenny Chesney tour has been dubbed the Sun City Carnival Tour, in support of his most recent album, Lucky Old Sun, which was released in the fall of 2008. The album had already had a number one single by the time it debuted, titled "Everybody Wants to go to Heaven".

Kenny's success might not have been overnight, but he's proved that he's here to stay. His concerts are huge successes and his awards, top ten hits and scores of number one singles prove that he's one of country's modern superstars.
