CALVERT COUNTY: One of Calvert’s favorite sons is mulling over whether to seek the governor’s job in 2010. George W. Owings III, a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates and secretary of the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs, confirmed rumors last week about possibly challenging Gov. Martin O’Malley in next year’s Democratic Primary. “In 45 to 60 days, I’ll have a firm decision one way or another,” said Owings, who resides in Dunkirk.
