NBC confirmed today that Kevin Eubanks is returning as the musical director on the Jay Leno Show! While Kevin Eubanks’ band will stay on the new Jay Leno show, Leno announcer John Melendez is leaving his post to join the 19 person writing staff for Jay.

The net had been buzzing in recent weeks with people questioning if Eubanks would continue with Leno to the new time slot. Today the Peacock confirms the gig along with a new hire in Liz Plonka as the show’s director.

Kevin Tyrone Eubanks (born November 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a jazz guitarist who was the leader of the Tonight Show Band with host Jay Leno from 1995 to 2009. He composed the Tonight Show's closing theme music, "Kevin's Country," in 1992.
