Injured TE Kevin Everett of the Buffalo Bills is expected to speak to his teammates and walk onto the field Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, NY. Everett was injured in the first game of the season against the Denver Broncos on a kickoff when he lowered his head and hurt his spine. The trainers gave Everett an ice-water treatment on the field that they had practiced in the weeks leading up to the season. Former Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett received the Jimmy V ESPY for Perseverance, named for the late North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano. Some may recall, Everett sustained a life threatening spinal –cord injury, after a hit, during a 2007 season opener game, showed no signs of consciousness, and many expected him to never walk again. Buffalo Bills reserve tight end Kevin Everett sustained a horrific injury while making a tackle on a special teams play during the 2007 season opener against the Denver Broncos.
