Charles Barkley once said, “I am NOT a role model.” Well, I’m here to tell you that we all have role models and we all want to be like somebody, I don’t care how good your life is. There’s always something else you would like in it, no matter how good things are going for you. I’ve decided to take a turn away from my usual sports column and just write about five people that I would like to be. Writing about subjects like this is almost better than writing about football, because free-writing like this is where you discover that pure joy of ... Read Full Story

FUUUCCCKKK!!!!  This is NOT GOOD for the Celtics.  I thought and assumed KG would be back and ready for the playoffs to help the Celtics compete for back to back NBA Championships but now it sounds like he may not even play one minute.  Doc Rivers was interviewed on WEEI this morning and he said "it was likely that Kevin Garnett would not be available to play at all in the playoffs." http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2009/04/rivers_garnett.html    Wow.  That is just a serious punch to the nuts.  I think I might be puking blood in a few minutes.  I can't believe this is happening.  All of my hopes ... Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett Photo Credit: Icon SMI By: Zachariah Blott Winner: Boston Celtics : They will run away with this division again, particularly since Garnett—still the best player in the game—appears to be healthy. And they added Rasheed Wallace, a guy who fit in just fine with the old Pistons, another team-first club that expects everyone to play defense, rebound, and recognize the mismatches on offense. Boston is completely stacked with self-sacrificing veterans ( Read Full Story

Practice hasn't even officially started yet and the Orlando Magic are already feeling disrespected. Even though the Magic are the defending Eastern Conference champions, it seems nobody is picking them to return to the Finals this year. In fact, it was during their Finals matchup with the Lakers when Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce tweeted to his followers, "Looked like a German shepherd vs. a poodle. That's OK the Rottweiler Celtics will be back in 2010." Magic forward Rashard Lewis, during the team's Media Day Monday, took umbrage with Pierce's Twitter remark and went after Pierce not like a poodle but like a pitbull. When ... Read Full Story

For fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves, exporting Kevin Garnett to Boston in 2007 came with one big consolation -- the acquisition of one the game's best young post players, Al Jefferson. Big Al emerged as the low-block counterpoint to Paul Pierce on Boston's bad 2006-07 team. When the opportunity surfaced for Danny Ainge to acquire Garnett and Ray Allen, Jefferson was the Celtics' only real long-term asset, and away he went. Jefferson's...

Interestingly enough, for the remaining two minutes and 53 seconds after those witty, Phil Mushnick-pleasing remarks, KG and his uninspired pack of bullies failed to score another point.
