Kevin Peter Hall was a man known for his roles in several classic films, including the family comedy
Harry and the Hendersons, both fillms in the
Predator franchise, and the movie
The Prophecy. The reason you may not recognize him? He was usually wearing makeup -- a lot of it.
The 7' 2" Kevin Peter Hall was born the tallest of six brothers, all of whom were over 6' 5". Due his tall stature, he made a career in Hollywood playing monsters, including the alien creature in Without Warning.
However, his real break came from the
Predator movie.
Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally cast as the dreadlocked killing machine, and shot several sequences inside the costume. However, producers decided to drop Van Damme and use Hall instead, as they wanted to show someone who could believably physically dominate the cast, which included such heavy hitters as
Arnold Schwarzenegger,
Jesse Ventura, and
Carl Winters.
He also appeared in both the movie and televised version of
Harry and the Hendersons.
He was also married to
Alaina Reed-Hall, known as Olivia the photographer on
Sesame Street, from 1988 until the time of his death. He passed away on April 10, 1991, at the age of 35, due to complications from AIDS.
