SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - San Francisco left-hander Jonathan Sanchez pitched Major League Baseball's first 'no-hitter' of the season to lead the Giants to an 8-0 victory over the San Diego Padres Friday. Sanchez struck out Everth Cabrera for the final out of the game before being mobbed by his team mates as he became the first Giant player to pitch a no-hitter since John Montefusco in 1976. Though a deal hasn't been finalized, the two sides are nearing a two-year agreement worth roughly $11 million, according to an anonymous source close to negotiations. The club's homegrown 2007 team MVP batted .254 last season, setting career bests with 27 homers, 44 doubles and 97 RBIs over a career-high 153 games without injury. St. Louis Cardinals infielder Khalil Greene was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the second time with social anxiety disorder on Monday. The Cardinals purchased the contract of right-hander Clayton Mortensen, 24, from Triple-A Memphis. That move restores St. Louis' pitching staff to 13 after one day with a dozen following the acquisition of Mark DeRosa from the Indians. Greene is batting .200 with five home runs and 19 RBIs.
