She probably doesn't even sleep, really, but when everything you touch turns to gold, those long nights really pay off -- to the tune of about $5.4 million a year.

With things like 4.2 million Twitter fans to keep entertained, a show to film, clothes to design, and nightclubs to visit (even though she doesn't drink), she can't really afford to rest, either. She gets paid a reported $10-$75,000 for each of her public appearances at clubs and casinos, after all! The girl has turned herself into quite a hot commodity, and she works her (ample) butt off -- in and out of the gym.

“Kardashian Inc. is a tremendously accurate description,” Ryan Schinman, CEO of a top celebrity talent broker said (via New York Post). “She’s not an actor. She’s not a singer. However, when you garner the amount of global attention that she has, she’s worthy of being called a brand."

The girls, and their younger bro Robert, are the children of Kris Jenner and the late OJ Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian. Kim, at 29, is the middle child, while Kourtney is about 18 months older, with Khloe and Robert next in line. Kim's parents divorced when Kim was just 4 and Kris remarried ex-Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner in 1991, giving the kids 3 new stepbrothers (including reality star Brody Jenner!) and a stepsister.

A few years later Kim and the gang gained two more siblings, half-sisters Kendall (now 14) and Kylie (now 12), making a grand total of 10 Kardashian/Jenner kids. Sanity and space weren't too much of an issue because not all of the 10 kids lived at home.

During Kim's younger years, she ran around with other young socialites like Paris Hilton, and worked at her dad's music marketing firm in high school, where she was exposed to some big names in the biz. She celebrated her 14th birthday in 1994 at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch!

Kim's adolescence was also marked by the development of what are now her signature curves. She's since learned to embrace them, but the star wasn't always fond of her assets. She said recently (via Huffington Post): "I was the first girl in my class to wear a bra. And Kourtney would taunt me and tell all the boys, 'Kim has such big boobs!' I hated it!"

Straight out of those awkward adolescent years, Kim got married to 30-year-old music producer Damon Thomas at 20. According to newly revealed court documents, their life together wasn't quite a fairytale so they divorced in 2004.

Rise and Shine
After Kim's messy divorce, the 24-year-old got a gig as Brandy's stylist -- thanks again to her many connections with the music biz. The socialite ended up with a great reputation in celeb circles and scored a boyfriend out of the deal: Brandy's bro, R&B singer Ray J. Things were looking good: Kim got gigs like personal shopping for Lindsay Lohan and she seemed to have moved on from the bitter divorce in just a year. By 2006, Kim and her sisters even opened their own high-end boutique, DASH, near their home in Calabasas, California.

The relationship with Ray J didn't last, though their love life was splashed all over the Internet with the leak of a sex tape in February 2007. When word of such a scandalous video hit the web, Ray J immediately denied its existence, then backtracked a bit and claimed he had no comment on the alleged tape -- after TMZ broke the news that Vivid Entertainment (one of the most popular and powerful porn companies on the planet) planned to distribute the tape.

Kim pretty much did the same, then said in an interview with Complex (after quickly lawyering up): "You know, I thought I was gonna marry this guy; we were in a three-year relationship. I didn't think that our personal business would be for the world to see...So no, I would not think twice to – I don't think that this will come out as something positive for me."

Although Kim was humiliated about the distribution of such footage, she ended up settling in court that April. Her cut: $5 million. And, when released, the tape quickly became the company's highest-selling X-rated video. It remained in their top spot until fellow E! reality star Kendra Wilkinson's tape eclipsed it this year -- in pre-sales.

Keeping Up with So Many Kardashians

Kim didn't let a little scandal slow her down. She wound up with her own E! reality show later in 2007, with Ryan Seacrest acting as executive producer. Keeping up with the Kardashians premiered on October 14, 2007, giving eager audiences an intimate glimpse at Kim and her entire fam. "Ryan said, 'Your family is hysterical. People see you hanging out with all these people, at all the cool parties, dancing on tables...but you're the one controlling your mom from getting wasted at night,'" she recalled in a Playboy interview.

The first season (which was seen by over 13 million viewers in the first month) featured Kim contemplating posing for Playboy -- after a sex tape, what's there to hide, right? -- and over the next 3 seasons, fans tuned in to watch more huge Kardashian life events. The cameras rolled for events like Kim's LASIK eye surgery (eek!), Khloe's 2009 wedding, the birth of Kourtney's first baby, etc. With the cameras perpetually rolling, Kim was always working -- even in her PJs in the comfort of her own home.

All the camera crews and lack of privacy pay off, though. The show climbed the ratings charts steadily over all 4 seasons. Since day 1 it has been the highest-rated series on Sunday nights among women aged 18 to 34, while the season 4 premiere was the network's most-watched episode in its history!

Baring It All
Kim rang in the 2007 holiday season by posing for Playboy's December 2007 issue. The newly minted reality star's cover featured her in a silky red number (she bared it all inside). At the time, she claimed she was a bit nervous about being photographed in the buff, though proud to represent for the curvy gals. "You always see the typical skinny models and I'm not that and I'm proud not to be that," she told Men's Fitness in 2008.

However, Kim now says she has some regret over stripping down for the spread. "I’m sorry I did Playboy. I was uncomfortable," she said this year.

Despite her current remorse, her pics went over very well. There are currently 11.3 million Google results if you search for the pics, nearly 3 years later.

Kim became increasingly known for her bodacious bod thanks those pics, the constant paparazzi attention, and her love of ultra tight dresses. However, with the positive attention came countless plastic surgery rumors, which she systematically denied from the get-go. Butt surgery is definitely the most talked-about alleged doctoring.

She laughs the wacky rumors off these days: "I like [the attention]; I think it's funny. It bothered me when people would come up with rumors, like, 'Oh, my god, she has butt implants, it can't be real.' Who gets butt implants? Come on. Do you know anybody who has butt implants?," she said in a recent interview.

Sometimes the obsession with Kim's body gets a bit extreme: Recently a woman tweeted "I'm getting head 2 toe plastic surgery nxt week 2 look like @kimkardashian so my husband won't leave me. He worships her."

Kim quickly replied: "NO," followed by, "Don't change yourself for anybody but yourself...be happy with who u are! Someone will appreciate and adore u just as you are."

It's tough to do the dating thing when most of your time is spent behind reality TV cameras, but Kim and New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush gave it their best shot starting in late 2007. The two were hot and heavy, though perpetually on-again, off-again, for almost two years before finally parting ways in July 2009. They gave their relationship one more try after reuniting at Khloe's wedding two months after their break-up, but no such luck. They officially broke up in March 2010.

Despite all the ups and downs, the couple had a great time together over the years. Big things happened for both during their relationship: Kim joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars (though she only lasted about a month before getting the boot), became even more of a star with huge endorsements (like a Carl's Jr. and Quick Trim to name a few), and got a CSI:NY guest spot. Reggie's hard work as an NFL-er paid off with his team taking it all the way to win the Super Bowl in February 2010, only a month before they split. She got to relish the big win with him, though, and the two were snapped sharing a smooch on the field as soon as the game ended.

She claimed victory in that one, too, and tweeted: 'We won the SUPERBOWL!!!!!!' immediately after the game.

Thanks to Reggie's Super Bowl success and Khloe's husband Lamar Odom helping the Lakers to an NBA championship this year, the Kardashians have earned themselves quite the reputation among athletes and sportsfans wishing their team could had a Kardashian for good luck. "I heard if u hit a kardashian u win a championship.. Kim k holla me!!!" Denver Nuggest rookie Ty Lawson tweeted in June.

Big Wins
Kim's got it figured out these days. She has a new man: Dallas Cowboys player Miles Austin (the fam apparently loves him, but it's nothing too serious yet) and she's got a steady line-up of work to keep her comfortable.

"Work" means things like flying to Australia to drum up publicity for a new cell phone and Twitter real estate getting eaten up by sponsored tweets (for around $10,000 a pop). So, to quell the pain, she couples her work trips with designer shopping trips and days at the beach -- and likely gets paid for those, too. She gets $20,000 if the documentation of said leisurely day happens to be for an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Companies have long since forgotten the sordid sex tape, and have tapped into the Kardashian image to get their brand ahead. An Armani tweet drove 40,000 users to the clothing company's web site in less than a day. “Somebody who paid a million dollars would be tickled to get that level of response for a campaign,” a marketing pro said (via NYPost.com).

slew of products: "Nothing like a peanut butter
and banana BodyFactory smoothie after a workout!" she wrote this morning, followed by "Having a gr8 makeup day thx 2 @Fusion_Beauty's Illumifill Line Filling Luminizer @Sephora. Luv radiant skin & happy 2 b the spokesperson."

She's serious about her endorsements though, it's not all about the money. “I really pride myself in being committed one hundred percent, whether it’s for my fragrance, I make sure that I created the juice, and I designed the bottle. I am hands-on in any project that I am associated with. I just don’t want to put my face or name and lend it to a product that I’m not behind a hundred percent,” she said in a Forbes interview.

Along with the product shout-outs, in-store appearances, and red carpet evenings, Kim keeps herself busy with another new project: producing her own reality show about a NYC public relations firm. It's called The SPINndustry, and 2.46 million households watched its premiere in February. She often makes guest appearances, too, which doesn't hurt ratings one bit.

Plus, she was immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds this month -- the ultimate "you've made it" sign. Hey, perhaps they're on to something: Clone a Kardashian! Maybe then the girl who sleeps in her workout clothes "to save time" will get some rest, and still make it to the gym.
