I have no idea why I thought that King Crimson wasn't around anymore, but much to my extreme delight, they are around, and not only that, but they will be coming to a small venue that's a stone's throw away from me. They are also coming to Chicago and New York in August, so if you live in the area and will be around this summer, cop some tix. When I first heard this song, I thought that it was David Byrne. I knew the band was called King Crimson, but I thought it was Bryne because he was doing some work with Brian ... Read Full Story

"Born" in 1969, King Crimson turned 40 this year! Bassist extraordinaire, Tony Levin, is back in the current incarnation of the band as is Pat Mastelotto (Drummer). King Crimson is a dual drummer beast again with the addition of new recruit, Gavin Harrison (from Porcupine Tree ). An excellent (and legal) live recording of the line-up can be found here . It is a complete concert and includes a very energetic rendition of The Talking Drum leading into the classic Larks' Tongues in Aspic Pt II. This performance also includes a very cool, funked out version of Thela Hun Ginjeet clocking in at nearly ... Read Full Story

In the realm of progressive rock there seems to be a band that I have been trying and trying to get into for years: King Crimson. I don’t know what it is that has kept me from really getting into their work before, especially because I’ve been a fan of the guitar work of Robert Fripp for some time. Maybe I’ve just finally reached the point in my musical tastes and especially my guitar playing where they fit in well. Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of music from this band and seeking out some of the early footage of them playing live ... Read Full Story

Best know as the guitarist and co-founder, and only constant member of the progressive group, King Crimson, Robert Fripp has also left his mark as an innovative musician by working with artists like Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, David Bowie and David Byrne. Fripp began playing guitar at the age of eleven, and says he was tone deaf with no sense of rhythm when he started. "Music so wishes to be heard that it sometimes calls on unlikely characters to give it voice," he said. Fripp is married to Toyah Willcox. and was ranked 42nd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists ... Read Full Story

King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King (40th Anniversary Series) Discipline Global Mobile 2009 It was, quite simply, a sound that shook the music world. When King Crimson emerged from the dust of the considerably more oblique and largely absurd trio of Giles, Giles and Fripp--whose one release, The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp (Deram, 1968), was aptly titled--nobody could have anticipated that this group would literally...

King Crimson Lizard (40th Anniversary Series) Discipline Global Movile 2009 Often forgotten and sometimes maligned, Lizard is a King Crimson classic that's waited to be found for nearly 40 years. When it was first released in 1970, it was quickly overlooked as a transitional album between the group that recorded/released/toured its seminal debut, In the Court of the Crimson King (DGM Live, 1969) and the Crimson incarnation that would hit the...

With numerous "definitive" editions already out, what can one more kick at the can of progressive rock progenitor King Crimson's discography offer? Plenty. With the entire Crimson catalog being remixed, remastered, and offered as CD/DVD-A sets that include stereo and 5.1 surround remixes in MLP Lossless, PCM Stereo, and DTS 5.1 formats, based on the first two 40th Anniversary Series releases--1975's Red and 1969's seminal In the Court of the...

What does it take to get to the pinnacle of the college football world and sustain that effort? It takes a complete effort. It takes phenomenal people working together to evaluate talent, do background checks, and take time away from their own families to visit the prospective athlete. It takes believing in what you are selling to the prospective athlete and family, then closing the sale. It then takes patience to sit and wait for the athlete...
