King Jigme Singye Wangchuck

Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (born February 21, 1980) is the fifth Dragon King of Bhutan and head of the Wangchuck dynasty. He became king on 14 December 2006, and was officially crowned on 6 November 2008. At age 28, Khesar is currently the world's youngest monarch and head of state. The young king began his unusual reign overseeing the democratization of his country, by presiding over the last sessions of the present parliament where electoral laws, land reform and other important issues were deliberated. The entries were from Bhutan Times Ltd., which won Nu. 100,000 and Jigme Loday, an artist with the education ministry, who won Nu. 50,000 of the total Nu. 150,000 price money. The chairman of the National Steering Committee for Centenary Celebrations, Lyonpo Jigmi Y Thinley and Dorji Lopen of the central monastic body launched the logo on June 13. Bhutan's new king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk will be crowned next month at a lavish ceremony in its capital city, Thimpu. It is believed that a large Indian delegation including President Pratibha Patil along with other dignitaries will be attending the event. Apart from politicians like Sonia Gandhi, Pranab Mukher-jee and others, B-Town actors Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif will also attend. 6th National Film Awards 2007 The Bhutan National Film Awards for the year 2007 saw a stunning packed Clock Tower Square on 2nd May night coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of Third King , His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk.
