NAGOYA (AP) -- Free agent outfielder Kosuke Fukudome will not return to the Chunichi Dragons next season, saying he wants to make a move to the major leagues, local media reported.
Fukudome informed the Central League club of his decision Tuesday, informing Chunichi officials it was his wish to play in the major leagues, Kyodo News agency reported.

Kosuke Fukudome started off great last season. After April in 2008 Fukudome was batting .319 with a .434 on base percentage. Kosuke even was voted on by the fans as the starting center fielder for the All-Star game.
After that he quickly fell out of favor though. His knack for swinging and missing at breaking balls quickly got him booed by the crowd. He was eventually benched for new fan favorite Reed Johnson.
