LOS ANGELES (Kyodo) Two-time double Olympic breaststroke champion Kosuke Kitajima wrapped up the year with a win at the California-Nevada Winter Championship on Tuesday. Kitajima won the 100 yards breaststroke in 52.73 seconds at the short-course Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.

Two-time double Olympic breaststroke champion Kosuke Kitajima marked his return to domestic competition with victory in the 100-meter breaststroke final at a time trials meet in Tokyo on Friday. Kitajima topped the heats in 1 minute, 2.22 seconds at Tokyo Swimming Center before going on to win the final in 1:01.91, well outside his national record of 58.91.

Kitajima, who made his return to long-course competition on Friday after a long layoff following the 2008 Beijing Olympics, touched the wall in 2 minutes, 14.31 seconds behind Ryo Tateishi at Tokyo Swimming Center, almost seven seconds off his national record of 2:07.51.
