Tour de France Records
He won the Tour de France a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005. He is the only individual to win seven times, having broken the previous record of five wins.
Cancer Survivor
In 1996, at age 25, Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer. The cancer had spread to his lungs, abdomen and brain. He successfully treated the cancer and returned to competitive racing.Lance Armstrong told AFP reporters that he will definitely ride in next year's Tour de France - great news for cycling fans.
Armstrong also plans to announce a new sponsor on Thursday, although he didn't clarify whether or not he plans to switch teams. He's currently riding for Team Astana along with his main rival Alberto Contador.
Lance is currently in second place, behind teammate Contador, in the general standings of this year's Tour de France. Lance, returning from a several year retirement as well as a broken collar bone earlier this year, is proving to the skeptics that he's still got what it takes to ride with the best cyclists in the world. However, there are several more days of racing before we know who will stand atop the final podium.
