We have all dealt with confusing, stupid or ridiculous people, businesses, activities, actions and organizations. This is the place to talk about all that can be categorized in those topics. Living in today's world is confusing, ridiculous and hillarious at times. Either people, technology and businesses are getting more ridiculous and confusing or it is my imagination. In this zine we can talk about what you have experienced as we all progress through this land of confusion.

Two Floods, Two Peoples?

In an effort to stir up some controversy and get some interesting replies on this forum it has been brought to my attention that there are occurrences in the country right now that may be seen as very prejudiced against the white man.  We do not endorse any personal opinions but here is what people have been writing to us about.

There appears to be some discrepancy in the way the great flooding in Iowa is being dealt with as opposed to the past great flooding in New Orleans.  It is true that the New Orleans flood probably displaced more people than the Iowa and mid-west floods, but as well the two floods displaced different types of people. In Iowa the affected were mostly middle class white families.  In New Orleans the displaced were mostly low income minority families.  In both cases people lives were ruined, money lost and assets permanently lost, as well as past memories.  In both cases lives will have to be reconstructed, money borrowed and kids re-clothed and fed.  In both cases, some families lost everything, perhaps forever.

The apparent difference, we are told, is how the media and celebrities have treated each devastating flood and how the people in the flood, themselves, reacted.

Here in particular is what someone sent us:

As you watch the flooding in the Midwest, have you noticed that there are no farmers running around with stolen plasma TVs or holding stolen liquor over their heads? There's no looting or yelling "Where's Bush?", "Where's FEMA?”, “Where's my check?", or "Why isn't the Government out here saving my farm?” Likewise, I've also noticed there are no reports of any other countries coming to help or sending aid. And where are the Reverends Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Another person sent us this opinion about the floods and celebrities:

Where are the Dixie Chicks, and Sean Penn in his rescue boat?Where are all the FEMA trucks and trailers? Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates rural White people? How come in about 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

These opinions are from confused readers of Land-of-Confusion and are not to be implied as our opinions.  We simply report on confusion taking place in the world.
