Nevada gambling regulators have approved a casino license for the centerpiece casino at the $8.5 billion CityCenter complex on the Las Vegas Strip. The Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously approved the license Thursday at a special meeting in Las Vegas. The state agency found both MGM Mirage and project partner Dubai World suitable as owners of CityCenter, which opens in phases starting next month. One of the biggest tussles involving Las Vegas real estate has resolved itself. MGM Mirage says it lost $750.4 million in its third quarter largely because the value of its latest casino project has fallen as gamblers spend less during the recession.
