Lee Ann Womack Steps Off The Stage And Onto The Big Screen

Tue, 10 Mar 2009

Lee Ann Womack has stepped out of her country comfort zone and into a different spotlight on the big screen portraying a deputy sheriff in the film, "Noble Things." Womack has taken on the role of Chief Deputy Claire Wades in the movie about country rising star, Jimmy Wayne Collins. Lee Ann's character is trying to keep a dark secret.

For Womack, the part of Deputy Wades is a learning experience. Lee Ann reportedly took the role so she can learn more about the film industry. While Womack has never wanted to act, her daughter Aubrey has always wanted to act.

Lee Ann filmed the movie through two hurricanes for a total of six weeks and after the experience, became more convinced that she hopes Aubrey will decide not to pursue an acting career. Womack said she was very lonely and the waiting to do her part and then back to more waiting was bothersome to her.

Fellow country star Tracy Bird also stars in the movie. Bird plays Ronnie Crawford, a veteran country singer who is a mentor to Collins. The film also features Brett Moses, Michael Parks, Ryan Hurst, Dominique Swain and Ron Canada.

"Noble Things" premieres at the Nashville Film Festival in April.
