The third man to be convicted in the brutal carjacking and torture murders of a young Tennessee couple has been sentenced to life without parole. A jury in Knoxville deliberated about two hours Thursday before handing down the sentence for George Thomas of Kentucky. The victims were 21-year-old University of Tennessee student Channon Christian and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Christopher Newsom. Newsom's naked, bound and burned body was found near railroad tracks and Christian had been stuffed into a trash can and left to suffocate. Lemaricus Davidson was sentenced to death Friday after being found guilty of kidnapping, raping, and murdering a young Tennessee couple out for a date in 2007. The 28-year-old showed no reaction as he was sentenced. Lemaricus Davidson (From knoxnews.com) Davidson's brother was already sentenced to life in prison without parole for the same crimes and two other defendants are currently awaiting trial. KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A judge in Tennessee said a federal agent should not have implied a defendant in a torture slaying case had a previous criminal record. The Knoxville (Tenn.) News Sentinel said Knox County Criminal Court Judge Richard Baumgartner chastised U.S. Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agent Bernard Waggoner Friday for hinting that George Thomas had a criminal history. Lemaricus Davidson during his trial I am sorry I have not been updating this everyday. I have watched the entire trial and it was very interesting. I thought the Prosecution put on a good case, especially closing arguments. I do not think the Defense did well, but probably the best they could with what they had to work with.
