Recorded prematurely after Bilbo's disappearance from the the Shire on the day of his eleventy-first birthday, it now seems safe to assume that the song is, indeed, accurate. It's by Blues performer Andrew Tibbs. The Hobbit and the The Lord of the Rings (all Tolkien, really) was an obsession amongst early Bluesmen with copies changing hands frequently. In fact, it was quite common for some of the early Bluesmen to translate their songs into Elvish and precede their musical performances with the The Hobbit's festive poem, Chip the glasses and crack the plates! As a bonus, I have the second best Middle Earth song, ... Read Full Story

Here's a description: Star Trek 's Leonard Nimoy sings a ditty entitled "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins". Enjoy! Thanks to pelayo for uploading this video.  From what I've read in the comments, a third of users were laughing their asses off, another third of users were saying "This is highly illogical" (in those exact words), while the rest were going "what the hell was Nimoy smoking?" (just cigarettes, I believe). A good mix of wit and honesty if you ask me.  As for myself, I'm still trying to get a hold on this and let it sink in. :) Read Full Story

Given that I am a "die-hard' sci-fi person, I have seen the entire Star Trek series (all of them!!) and the movies at least 4-6 times --each. There are some episodes that I can tell you the entire episode theme within 30 seconds of the opening. (beat that!) However it was really funny to see in LA Times last Friday an article/interview with Adam Nimoy son of Leonard Nimoy who was doing characterized his mishap of a lifestyle as a way to get away from being the son of Mr. Spock-- much as Leonard Nimoy himself tried-- often in vain- to no longer be ... Leonard Nimoy recently said he feels the future of "Star Trek" no longer needs him, so when we talked to the actor at the Star Trek DVD/Blu-ray release party at the historic Griffith Observatory in LA, we asked him why. "They have Zachary Quinto. I was useful to make the bridge between the original and the new and that's done," Nimoy said. "This cast of characters is in great shape. They're a wonderful, talented bunch of people and the...

Although J.J. Abrams hasn’t decided yet whether he will direct Star Trek XII, the thought of someone else doing so is unpalatable.
