This month’s Cincinnati Guerrilla Queer Bar event took place at Million’s, sibling bar to Mount Lookout Tavern. Not unlike queerings past, men where not allowed to dance on the stage or poles, resulting in the use of force against a gay man. Many men were asked to leave the stage and were pulled down by a bouncer. Some tried to resist, but it wasn’t until a pair refused to leave the stage that the situation began to escalate, as evidenced in the video below. The man was escorted out of the bar, but was quickly allowed back in by the manager, giving the man ... Read Full Story

Cincinnati Guerilla Queer Bar is no ordinary queer function. There are so many activist groups that work within the system - trying to change laws and policies, holding rallies and the like - but we rarely have massive, radical action. That is where CGQB comes in. I have never seen such a great, consistent turnout for a regularly scheduled queer event. So far there have been five CGQB events, all of which have seen a huge turnout from the queer community. These events have happened just about every two weeks and they are always highly attended. In a world that selectively recognizes our rights ... Read Full Story

Focus On All Families, a counter event to Citizens for Community Values’ annual fundraiser, was held at Xavier University’s campus on Tuesday, April 21. CCV is a conservative group that is opposed to everything from gay marriage to comprehensive sex education. Many organizations participated in the event, including Equality Ohio, The Gathering, PFLAG Cincinnati, MUSE women’s chorus, GLSEN, Xavier Alliance, Cincinnati Men’s Chorus, GenderBloc and UC’s LGBTQ coordinator. The event featured child-friendly activities such as face painting, jump rope and hula hoops. Some boothes had prizes, others had candy, but by far the best part was the cotton candy. MUSE and Cincinnati Men’s Chorus ... Read Full Story

The Cincinnati Enquirer ran a story this week about Cincinnati Guerrilla Queer Bar, a grassroots effort to mix among straights in their house. The story went up on the web Monday night and it currently has 772 comments – that’s the most I have ever seen on an Enquirer story. A lot of the comments are negative and are a lot like these ones: “Do you think that gathering for one night at this particular place is really going to make a difference for your cause? Is there any difference between this and the KKK doing their thing in the streets of Oxford every ... Read Full Story

Love Cincinnati Guerrilla Queer Bar? Well, your bimonthly dose has just decreased. The group has announced that while bars will continue to be queered on the first Friday of every month, spread the love events, where queers all go to an underutilized bar in the community, they will become “seasonal blow-out-queer-fest parties that are thrown at queer-owned/friendly establishments.” The next CGQB event will be Oct. 2. Organizer Ethan Philbrick advised in a Facebook message: “It’s going to blow all the other CGQBs out of the water … Start getting your beauty sleep now.” Posted in activism, CGQB, cincinnati, Events, kentucky, Ohio Tagged: asexual, bisexual, ... So say some Brits: Speaking at the launch at the think tank Demos of a report on the influence of character on life, Scott said: “Lesbians make better parents than a man and a woman.” His arguments are supported by experts who have found, over years of research, that children brought up by female couples are more [...]

On November 4, 2008, California voters passed Proposition 8 which denied gays and lesbians the legal right to marry in this state. For several days after that vote, gays, lesbians and their straight friends marched in the streets of L.A. to protest the discriminatory vote and ballot measure. With CN...

If only Nidal Hasan, the alleged Ft. Hood killer, had been gay, the Army would have spent quite a bit of time hunting him down. Especially after 9/11, it's exceedingly important for the military to keep gays and lesbians, especially patriotic gays and lesbians with advanced Arabic-language skills, from polluting our military with their gayness. I hope the Nidal Hasan tragedy spurs the military to spend even more time hunting down gay people...

A reader: So let's grant that justice is indeed served by discriminating against gays and lesbians on certain issues. The upshot is that gays and lesbians potentially are left without various primary goods: homes, jobs, food, medical care, health insurance, etc. What though does charity demand? If we follow the Church's traditional practice, as articulated by Onaiyekan, charity would demand that the Church provide for needy gays and lesbians...
